Small Wild Cat Road Sign Program

This project was initiated in 2015 by observing the years of mortality records and communicating with locals in the hill country.  After that we were able to pinpoint a few key areas in Gannoruwa where wildlife was more likely to become roadkill due to accidents. This area is more subjected to roadkill because of the main road that intersects a forested area with the nearby river.  After careful evaluation, we designed road signs along with information boards to educate the public. The necessary permission was obtained from Road Development Authority (RDA), Sri Lanka prior to placing these signs.

We are currently collecting data on new roadkill locations, which are periodically fed to the RDA. The long term goal is to put up more signboards at critical points throughout the country.
